Phonics Screening Check 2023
We received a letter (click here) from the Minister for Education, congratulating us that our Phonics results (95% of children meeting the threshold) put us in the top 5% of schools in the country once again. This is not the first time we have achieved this accolade for Phonics, but we are very pleased that this has been recognised once again by the Department for Education.
Thank you for all you do to support Early Reading at Cardinal Newman.
Catholic Schools Inspection September 2021
Following our inspection at the end of September 2021, we are delighted to have been awarded “Outstanding” in all areas inspected! Well done to the whole school community for working together to achieve this for our children! We work hard to serve our children and families all year round, but we are pleased to have that achievement recognised by Catholic Schools Inspectors. The full report can be accessed here but some of our favourite quotes include:
"Cardinal Newman is an Outstanding Catholic school because:
“Pupils have a real sense of belonging to this family”
“Pastoral care is a significant strength.”
“Children approach their learning with great interest, passion and enthusiasm and, despite the challenges of the pandemic, achieve very well.”
“The mission statement is central and permeates all aspects of school life.”
