Open Days 2025/2026 intake

Open Days are as follows:

10.00 am – 12.00            Friday 11^th October

10.00 am – 12.00            Friday 18^th October

10.00 am – 12.00            Friday 8^th November

10.00 am – 12.00            Friday 17^th January 2024                                          

Please email the office at office@cardinalnewmanschool.co.uk  to book your session and please provide your phone number.

Family Mass on Sunday 29^th September 2pm

We warmly invite the families of our school community to a start of year Mass on Sunday 29^th September at 2pm in the school hall.  Fr Richard will celebrate Mass with us  and will commission our Prayer Council children and Altar servers for their ministry in the coming year. 

Mass will be followed by tea/coffee and cakes.  We look forward to seeing you there.  

Parking on Arch Road

Please can we remind parents to avoid parking and driving on Arch Road in the mornings before school and in the afternoons after school. It gets very congested and can make it dangerous for our children when they are walking into school. Please also be considerate of residents and do not block their driveways. 

Parking is available in the Coronation Rec car park which is just a short walk away from school. Alternatively, you can park for free at Hersham station car park on Walton Park with a permit which you can obtain by emailing the school office your car registration plate.

Scooters

A reminder that scooters are not allowed to be ridden on the playground. Please walk your scooter to the scooter parking area as soon as you have reached the school gates.

Sundries

As you may know, we have a long tradition at Cardinal Newman of organising exciting hands-on activities for the children, such as cooking and gardening and themed days.  These have traditionally been funded by a small annual parent donation ("Cooking Money").  If you would like to support this initiative, you will find a "sundries" option on your Scopay account which will allow you to make this donation for your child's class this year. Please logon to Scopay.com rather than using the Scopay app which does not show everything correctly.

Children Pick ups

If your child is being collected by someone else, please can you let the class teacher know that morning. If you are unable to do so, please inform the school office no later than 2pm.

Y6 Mobile Phones

Please can all Y6 children ensure that their phones and smart watches are clearly labelled with their name before handing into the school office.

Salesians Open Mornings

We are pleased to announce that Salesian will be conducting Open Morning for prospective Year 6 students and their parents on the following dates:

Wednesday 25^th September

Tuesday 1^st October

Open Mornings start at 8.45am and involve a short tour of the school.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to the current Year 5 and Year 6 families to join us for our Open Morning on Saturday 21 September.

School Dinners

Please remember to book school dinners on Scopay at least 1 day in advance or ring the school office before 9am if you have left it too late to book/cancel online for that day.
 

First Holy Communion - St Barnabas and All Saints Church

The application forms for the First Holy Communion will be available from this weekend and can be found at the back of the Church, or to download from the Parish website at  www.stbarnabasmolesey.org

The application forms need to be returned to the Parish office by Friday, 13 October 2024 at 11am.

Please note: applications will not be processed unless they include all necessary information and documentation.

St Erconwalds Holy Communion Programme

If your child is in Year 3 or above , you can now apply for the First Holy Communion Programme 2025. You can pick up an application form from the back of the Church or you can download it from our website ( sterconwalds.org.uk ). Please note that there are 2 tabs in the spreadsheet, and you need to complete both. Application forms need to be returned it to the Parish Office no later than Sunday 20^th of October. Late application forms will not be considered. Please contact the Parish Office if you have any problems collecting a form or downloading it.  

Please note that in order to be part of the St Erconwald’s Programme you NEED TO BE REGISTERED within the Parish. If you are not registered, your application form WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED for the programme.

However, without Catechists we will not be able to run it and at the moment we do not have enough Catechists. Last year we had a fantastic group of parents that step up to deliver it. The more Catechists we have the better as that means you will not have to lead every week. National Online Safety: Wake Up Wednesday Guides for Parents 

We would like to make you aware of our ‘online safety’ advice, guidance and support page called ‘Wake Up Wednesday - what parents / carers need to know’.

Wake Up Wednesday, created by The National College, aims to inform parents and carers on topics such as social media platforms, gaming, and IPad security. They include top tips, important reminders and reality checks on a wide range of online safety topics. They are a great resource to keep up to date with the issues children may encounter. 

We will post relevant articles of interest that should help you and your child here on our website.
