Anti-Bullying week - odd sock day
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week. This year's message is "Make a noise about bullying".
We will mark this week by having an "Odd Socks Day" on Monday with a special collective worship where we will reinforce the message of Jesus - that we need to treat each other with respect and love. The School Council will also share the children's own Anti-Bullying Code, which is displayed in all classrooms. During the week, all classes will take part in some activity to reinforce the message that it is important to talk to someone you trust if you are unhappy or to tell if you see someone being upset. We'd like to continue to make sure that no child feels unhappy.
Football
A fantastic start for our football teams this Year! Well done to all the football teams who took part in our matches and tournaments this week- you were amazing!
On Monday, the girls went to Walton Oak and showed great determination, respect and teamwork, winning 4-1. The girls kept their heads up after conceding and gelled naturally as a team.
Next was the Year 5 boys who went to Cleves and were up against a tough group of boys. The boys showed resilience and continued to work around the Cleves defence and eventually their hard efforts paid off, giving them a 2-0 lead. Our defence managed to fend off the Cleves attack until the last minute, but the boys remained composed and continued to defend effectively until the final whistle. Well done!
On Thursday, the Year 6 boys went to Royal Holloway to play in a football tournament. After winning the group stage convincingly, the boys were up against tough opposition in the knockout stages and were extremely supportive of each other as they battled their way through 3 penalty shootouts and eventually winning the final. A great week for all at Cardinal Newman!'
