Dear Parents
Outbreak Management
As you may have heard, this week has seen the first implementation of the Outbreak Management Plan for one of our Y6 classes. This means that they will remain in school, but within their own bubble and not mixing within school. Staff working in that class will be wearing masks around the school building and we are continuing with our additional sanitising and handwashing. We ask parents to continue to be vigilant at home and to keep children off school (and seek a PCR test) if they have any symptoms. This will help us to keep our community safe and operating as normally as possible.
Christmas Productions
Unfortunately, this outbreak has meant our first cancellation of term – the Y6 Football Team were due to play at Royal Holloway on Thursday afternoon, but were unable to go. As previously advised, all dates for this term are very much provisional and so it is with some trepidation that I am sharing the dates for our Christmas services and performances. We hope that these will be able to go ahead, but cannot currently guarantee it – please bear with us as we do our very best for the children and our whole school community. All being well, the dates will be:
Reception Nativity: Tuesday 7th Dec afternoon
Y1/2/3 Nativity – Yellow / Violet / Topaz: Thursday 9th Dec afternoon
Y1/2/3 Nativity – Green/Blue/Ruby: Friday 10th Dec afternoon
Y4-6 Carol Service at St Erconwald’s – Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th Dec evening
All events will be ticketed and further details will be sent out nearer to the event.
Parking and Social Media
Please could we ask for parent support with these two difficult areas.
Parking: During this week, we have been contacted by residents complaining about parking in local roads and specifically about blocking access. We have advised the residents to contact the police about anti-social parking and we do also regularly request the traffic warden to attend the local roads to support us to keep parking safe for everyone. Please do park only in Coronation Rec car park or in the station car park (permits available via the school office).
Social Media: Our home school agreement includes not using social media about school events, but we are still contacted by parents informing us that an incident involving their child has been posted on WhatsApp or Facebook inappropriately. The best course of action with any concern is to speak directly to the class teacher and let them support with resolving it. I am always happy to speak to any parent who has a concern, as is Mr Flower. Please speak to school staff directly and allow us to decide whether it is necessary to share the information more widely. It is never appropriate for a parent to name another child online. Thank you for helping us to keep our school community safe and confidential online.
Children’s Online Safety
Please see Mr Flower’s update about children’s online safety with regard to Squid Game – and how to keep your children safe online.
Parent Association – Volunteers needed!
Our Parent Association AGM has been held this week and as you may be aware, our current Chair Sian Reeve and Secretary Lydia Brintrup have reached the end of their term of office. We are very grateful to them for their excellent leadership of the Parent Association, especially through the uncharted waters of a pandemic, and we are keen to help find volunteers to replace them. They have agreed to support the next parents to run the PA smoothly, with the support of the PA Reps and the PA Committee.
If you would be interested in taking on this role, please do come and have a chat with me, so that we can work together to raise the money to create more fantastic facilities for our children!
We have had a very busy week in school and I hope that all families will be able to have a good break together this weekend.
Wishing you all the best for the coming weekend!
